A Day at Lake Calima: A Family Reunion and Traditional Flavors

LAGO CALIMA  The best part of it all was when we decided to stop and try some local dishes from the region. First, we stopped by a small stall selling "fish empanadas", a delicious dish that’s very representative of Lake Calima, since the lake is famous for its fishing. Served with "ají" (spicy sauce), these empanadas were a real treat for the taste buds. We also tried "arepas de maíz" (corn arepas) filled with cheese, a classic that is never missing from any family gathering. And of course, we couldn’t skip the "panela with lime" drink, which was perfectly refreshing on that hot day. That same afternoon, at my uncles' house, we were celebrating the birthday of one of our family members, which made the visit even more special.
